Tamika Magee Harper, 47

Mrs. Tamika Magee Harper, 47, passed away at Forrest General Hospital, Hattiesburg, MS on February 11, 2024.

Mrs. Harper was a lifelong member of Friendship Missionary Baptist Church.  She actively supported her Friendship Community through educational services ( tutoring), mission duties, and caretaking.  She has a close relationship with her grandparents, the late Reverend Dr. V. M. Magee and Mrs.Rosa Lee Magee.

Education was Tamika's passion.  She graduated from Collins High School and enrolled at Alcorn State University. She continued her education at William Carey University where she obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Education.  She served as an educator in several capacities for Jefferson Davis County School District and even won Teacher of the Year for her efforts.  She was currently pursuing a master's Degree in Education at William Carey College, Hattiesburg, MS.

She was known for hosting family gatherings and living life to the fullest.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Bobbie Lee Magee.

Survivors include her husband, Derrick Harper; son, Tayhlor Harper; granddaughter, Avi'yona Grace Harper, father, Boyd McLaurin. Jr; brothers, Breaun Magee and Kevin Myers; sisters, Deborah Jamison; uncle, Charles Magee; aunts, May Harris, Bethrotha Magee, and Charlotte Givens; cousins, Jade Magee-Stroud, Tara Thompson, Angela Camacho, Paula Flowers, Sandra Keys, Deide McLaurin, Virgil Magee, and Quincy Magee; her Godmother, Annie Peal Hill; bonus son, Adarius Turner; special sister in love and close friend, Olivia Gipson; Goddaughter, Daisja Harper, and a host of loving relatives and friends.

Honorary Pallbearers:  Virgil Magee, Lacardo Wall, James Samuel, Jr, Niruba Gipson, Quincy Magee, and Marcus Flowers

Active Pallbearers:  Justin Harper Leslie Reese, Ja'quan Buckley,  Melvin Windham, Raymond Hawthorne, and Nicholas McLaurin.

Flower Bearers:  Nieces, cousins, and friends

Pastor Randy Miller was the Officiant. Master of Ceremony, Reverend Dr. Jason McLeod.Special musical selections rendered by Dr. Kevin Thompson.
