Mrs. Ruby Jewel Hawthorne, 82, Collins, MS was known was known by many with the titles of Mother/Missionary. She accepted Christ and was filled with the Holy Ghost and served as a faithful member of the church. She served on the Mother's Board, Prayer Warrior Group, Sunday School Teacher and Bible Band Teacher. Her life exemplified holiness ad her prayer ministry led other family members to come to Christ. She served her community with complete love.
Missionary Hawthorne worked as a housekeeper for many years. She also worked for the City of Collins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Hubert Hawthorne, Sr and Bertha Davis Hawthorne. Sisters, Agnes(Louis) Fairley, Louise(Mack) Martin, Linda Hawthorn, Irene(Austin0 Fairley, Beulah (Moody) Sullivan; brothers, Berlon(Ora Jean) Hawthorn and Hubert (Sally) Hawthorn, Jr.
Survivors include children, Anita Leggettt, Mt. Olive, Donnis(Gwen) Hawthorne, James Young, Jeffery (Rose) Hawthorne, all of Collins; seven grandchildren, and 24 great granedchildren. Sisters, Luethel Barnes, Collins and Francis(Lonnie Young, St. Louis, MO. Special nieces, Dorohy Jones, Joyce Burkett, Frances Hooker, and Sheila Sullivan. God children, Sandra Cooper, Alexander Booth, Darlene Smith, Sharon Green, Shelesia Booth, Troy Moore, and Bobby Gray. Special Godson, Jeffery Lee; special neighbor, Willie Goudy and a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Mrs. Ruby Jewel Hawthorne, 82, Collins, MS were held on Saturday, May 13, 2023 at 11AM from Greater Collins Church of God in Christ, Collins, MS. Interment was in the Venia Park Cemetery. Reeves Funeral Home, Inc., Mount Olive, MS was in charge of the arrangements.
