Raised in Mt. Olive, MS, where she graduated from Lincoln Attendance Center under the guidance of her father, the principal, Margaret's musical journey began at Mt. Pleasant Methodist Church. Her exceptional voice was nurtured by her family and spiritual community. Her teaching career spanned decades and locations, including Yazoo City Training School (1954-1958), the Boston Public Schools (1960-1971), and later Toledo, Ohio public schools (1986-2002). Passionate about cultural education, she joyfully shared her experiences and love for Black History and global cultures with her students. One of her cherished memories was preparing students for Christmas performances on local television.

Even after retiring, Margaret continued to substitute teach and refine her operatic skills, performing in recitals at the Toledo Museum of Art. She was a proud representative of the Boston Opera and engaged actively with organizations such as the Ohio Music Education Association, the National Association of Female Executives, and Delta Sigma Theta Sorority. Her accolades include induction into the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement in 2018 and features in Marquis Who's Who in the Midwest from 1990 to 1993.

In her later years, residing at Park Cliffe Memory Care Center, Margaret shared her musical gifts with fellow residents, teaching and uplifting them through song. Her vibrant spirit and elegance were evident as she guided them in perfect pitch, even in high heels.
