Mr. Hurl Booth, Sr., Collins, MS, passed away on February 6, 2026, as a result of a vehicular accident.
Mr. Booth received his education from Hopewell School, Covington County School District, Collins, MS. He joined Shady Oak Missionary Baptist Church at an early age. He enlisted in the United States Army in the mid 1950's and served overseas in the Korean War. After his tour of duty in Korea, he returned to Mississippi. Soon after that, he moved to Detroit, Michigan, to seek employment in the automobile industry. Later in life, he and his family moved to Boston, MA, where he continued to work in the automobile industry until his retirement in the mid 1990's/. He returned home to Mississippi and spent his retirement years doing some of the things that brought him enjoyment. He was an avid hunter( nicknamed Squirrel), a fisherman, and enjoyed watching his favorite professional sports teams, the Boston Red Sox and Boston Celtics.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George Elam and Addie Posey Booth; his beloved wife, Annie Lee Booth, two children, Sanford and Denise; one sister, Floretta B. Ivy, and one brother, Earl Booth.
Survivors include, children, George Elam,, Pittsburgh, PA, Hurl Jr (Trayace), Theresa and Curtis, Collins, MS; Delores (Jay), Brockton, MA; sister, Velma Booth Payne, Boston, MA; brother in law, Spencer Braggs, Boston, MA, two sister in laws, Fannie Bolden, North Port, AL and Mattie Clemons, Buffalo, NY; grandchildren, cousins, nieces, nephews and a host of loving family, friends and neighbors.
