Mr. Herman Keys, 73, Collins, MS passed away on July 27, 2023.
Mr. Keys's early education consisted of attending Hopewell School and Carver Central High School, which is now a historic landmark of Covington County. After high school, he attended Coahoma Jr. College, Clarksdale, MS, afterwards he enlisted in the United States Marines in 1969. He also enlisted in the United States National Guard and during his service and dedication to our country, he served in Vietnam, Desert Storm and Gulf Tours. He was also employed with the Collins Police Department for many years until his retirement.
He was preceded in death by his father, Herman Keys, Sr.; son, Sherrod Leggett Keys; brothers, Douglas Keys and Carl Keys, and sister, Constance Keys Jones.
Survivors include, his loving and devoted wife of 35 years, Annette Keys, Collins, MS; his mother, Hershey Lee Keys, Collins; children, Tammy (Oliver) Paterson, Moses ( Olivia) Keys, Thomas (Christine) Fairley, Shana Keys, Katina (Tivon) Hawthorne, Ladonna (Sheraton) Fairley. 30 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Siblings, (brothers), Larry (Sandra) Keys, Lelus (Mary) Keys, James (Deborah) Keys, Michael Keys, and Randolph (Courtney) Keys. Sisters, Marie Keys, Annette (Will) Evans, Michelle (Richard) Forrest and Vicki(Dwight) Ferrell and two loving aunts, Lela D. Keys, and Jr. R. Keys. A host of nieces, nephews and extended family and friends. Three Honorable: Family Members, Lee Earl Wheeler, Sammy Spencer, and Robert Fairley.
