Mrs. Glenda Faye"GiGi' Dampier, Inwood, Long Island, New York( formerly of Mount Olive, MS) passed away on Saturday, October 22, 2022, nine days after her 68th birthday.
At a young age she was sent to New York for a better education and more opportunities. She joined St. John Baptist Church and remained a faithful member. She was active in the Pastor's Partnership, Culinary Committee, Church's Nurse Unit. For her family and friends alike, she was a caregiver and never turned anyone away that needed her attention. She became a Licensed New York State Daycare provider. She was honored in 2010 by the Nassau County National Council of Negro Women for being a "Loyal Community Nurturer." She also was a wonderful cook and loved her special television programs. Her favorite time of the year was the Christmas season and listening repeatedly to Silent Night(Temptation version).
She was preceded in death by her parents, T. H. Dampier and Lucille Whitson; her beloved, Michael Johnson; grandmother, Azzie Hales; brothers, Howard, Jr., Bobby Joe and Johnny Cobb; sisters, Clyretha Ruth Chatam, Betty Sue Feazell, Shirley Jean Feazell and Barbara Hart; and lastly, her beloved dog, Chi-Chi Marie.
Survivors include, son, Demetrious (Eric), daughter, Monchell; brothers, Willie Gene Price, Wallace Price and Terry Price; sisters, Ernestine Owens, Philomena Whitson, Carrie Drake, Linda Fay Rankin and Willie Ruth Feazell. Grandchildren, Antwon Evans, Tahj Robinson, Jade and Kenneth Hill, Leigh Ball, Lavon Montgomery, Jr., and Josiyah Green; Godchildren, Sharita Brunson, Shaunita Gore Cobb, Davin Quinones, Kiani Tyler, Sabrina Tatum-Williams and Cheyenne Dixon and her four-legged daughter, Ginger Belle.
She was guided through every stage of her life from her teen years until her last days by these beloved people, Dora King, Cheryl Watson, Judy and Ruth Thomas, Katherine Glover, Ella Mae Benjamin, Grace Showalter-Cobb, Katherine Grant, Toni Tatum, Lisa Shelborne, Melissa Whitfield, and Diane Tyler and many nieces, nephews, cousins, other family members and friends

Reverend James Rankin was the Officiant for the Wednesday service. Interment was in the Zionell CME Church Cemetery.
