Mrs. Genetter Wolfe Gibson, Collins, MS, passed away at her residence on May 31, 2025.
Mrs. Gibson was educated at the Friendship Community School. She was a member of Friendship Missionary Baptist Church and attended faithfully until she journeyed to Bogalusa, LA. In Bogalusa, LA, she joined the New Triumph Missionary Baptist Church and served on the Pastor's Aid Community, Women's Mission, and Usher Board. She was also an advisor for the Voices of Joy in Bogalusa. She developed lifelong friendships and an appreciation for a spirit-filled life during her earthly journey. Through the years, she worked as a nanny and gardener. She rejoined Friendship Missionary Baptist Church after relocating back to Collins and was known as a "Mother of the Church," and was faithful in attendance and service until her health failed her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jim and Eva Wolfe; husband, James E. Gibson; daughter, Barbara Lockhart; son-in-law, Preston Lockhart, Sr; grandson, Preston Lockhart, Jr; sisters, Ester May Mickel, Helen Johnson, and Nina Mae Booth.
She leaves the following to cherish her memory: daughter, Jackie Holloway; step-children: Caroline Jefferson and Karen Gibson; god-daughter, Briaunna Stalling; grandchildren: Peggy (Jeffery) Johnson, Paula (Earl) Flowers, Barbara (Freddie) McNair, Ricky (Tiffany) Wolfe, Lupe (Arkalliotte) Smith, Aretha (Grady) Berry, John (LaTibbie) Holloway, Reshena Holloway; great-grandchildren: Krystal (Cole) Martin, Marcus (Shuntae) Flowers, Kristopher Johnson, Teris (Alexis) Wolfe, Ka'Dreanna Hayes, Markell (Daniel) Young, Kaela (Barry) Paige, April Ducksworth, Ricky Wolfe, Kobe Berry, Nadya Holloway, Brandon Ducksworth, Kacee George, Mark Chatman II, keem McNair; Kurksten Berry, Shannon Ducksworth, Jalyn (John) Posey, Preston (Denicka) Lockhart, Ashley Andrews, Mykla Lockhart, Quashonda Lockhart; two special nephews, Perkins Johnson, Jr: and Onett Booth; special niece, Eva (Roger) Barnes; special cousin, Rosa Thompson, and a host of great-great grandchildren, nephews, relatives, and friends.
Genetter will forever be in the hearts of those who knew her. Her death is but a transition to a greater reward and fulfillment in God's presence.
