Evangelist Eunice Giesleo "Papoose" Claybon Odom passed away on April 10, 2025, at St. Dominic Hospital, Jackson, MS.
Evangelist Eunice joined Lynch Street CME Church, Jackson, MS, at an early age. She attended Brown Elementary School, Powell Middle School, and graduated from Calloway High School in 1975, Jackson, MS. She continued her education at Mississippi Industrial College, Holly Springs, MS., majoring in Biology and a member of the Gospel Choir.
She enjoyed cooking and handcrafts, and her passion was designing corsages and boutonnieres for the Annual Conference of the Christian Methodist Episcopal Churches Missionary Society.
She was a founding member of Abundant Life Ministries, McComb, MS; and Tree of Life ministries, Jackson, MS. She founded Anointed Hands ministry, Jackson, MS.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Elder Dorothy L. Barksdale and James Claybon, Sr.; two brothers, James Jr. and Anthony Claybon; maternal grandparents, Reverend Edward "E.D." and Bertha Porter Barkswdale, Sr., paternal grandparents, Reverend E. C. and Hattie Jackson Claybon; uncles, A. D. (Hazel), , Herdie, Thomas Jefferson "T.J." (Louise), Edward Jr, (Cora), Reverend Samuel Lowe (Cozella), Eugene Hycle, Willie C.Langdon.
Aunts, Orena Jackson (William), EddieDean Bush(William), Elizabeth"Liz" Sims (Finney), Ella Eva Walls, and Marjorie Culver(John); Lillie Mae McIntyre(McKinley); Godmother, Eunice Frazier; God Brother, Michael.
Survivors include children, Angela Loraine Claybon, Mendenhall, MS and Alex Lejames Claybon, Jacksonk, MS. Sisters, Evangelist Elaine Barnes (John), Collins, MS, Pastor Dr. Emma Armstrong, Mt. Olive, and Wilhelmina Langhorn, Jackson, MS. Brothers, Lee Edward Gilliam (Sharon), Elizabethtown, KY, and Reverend Dr. Darryl Claybon, Douglasville, GA. Aunt Edna Earl Barlsdale Langdom, Collins, MS. Uncles, Luke Clayborne and Jacob Roy Claybgorne, Both of Southfield, MI. Godmother, Bobbie Tucker Boykins; God Sister, Letitia Thompson; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, additional relatives, and many friends.
Reverend Johnnie Benjamin Barnes, III, was the Officiant.
