Mr. Elijah 'EW" Washington, Sumrall, MS passed away on April 25, 2024.
Mr. Washington attended Lamar County Public Schools. He was employed with Ford Motor Company for 30 years. After retirement, he and his family moved back to Sumrall, MS. He was a member of Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church, Collins, MS. He enjoyed entertaining family and friends on holidays, and special occasions on his ranch.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse Washington, Sr., and Jesse Mae Thigpen Washington; siblings, Dorothy Hollin, Clarence Williamson, June Washington, Geneva Clark, Bobbie Williams, and Erene Evans, all of Sumrall, MS.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Yvonne Duckworth Washington, three children, Elijah Washington, Jr., Orlando Washington, and Tracy Washington, all of Michigan; seven grandchildren, one great-grandchild; three siblings, Roosevelt Parker, Sylvester (Gale) Jones, and Larry (Letha) Farley; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
