Mr. Darron Dewayne Slater passed away on March 17, 2024.
Mr. Slater was a graduate of Mount Olive Attendance Center, class of 1989. He joined Harmony Baptist Church at an early age where he served faithfully until relocating to Silver Creek, MS He became a member of St. James Baptist Church, Oakvale MS, and served as a faithful member Due to his faithfulness and willingness to work he was appointed as a Trustee at St. James MB Church. He was employed with SCCI Pipeline, Prentiss, MS., and also worked for many years at M. G. Dyess Pipeline, Bassfield, MS.
He demonstrated the importance of family, hard work, and church. He also enjoyed fishing, traveling, and spending time with his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl Drones and Mae Lee Slater( Charles Slater).
Survivors include his wife Nikita Jackson Slater, Silver Creek; son, Eric Stringer, Carson, MS and 2 stepsons, Cedterius Jackson and Nikia Jackson, both of Silver Creek; goddaughters, Anna Hayes, Gulfport, MS and Miniya K. Burns, Monticello, MS. Sister, Kimberly (Hayward) MdConald, Gulfport; two brothers, Marvin (Patricia) Haines, Mount Olive, and Charles (Traneisha) McLaurin, Gulfport. Mother-in-law, Catherine A. Jackson, father in law, Nathaniel Jackson(Jean); special mother figure, Iola McGowan; aunts, Gwendolyn Lee, Baton Rouge, LA, Michelle(Bufford) Holloway, Gulfport, Gretel(Raymond) Sweatt and Carolyn Cooper, both of Clarksville, TN. Three grandchildren and special friends, Sammie "Redd' and Kenneth R. Magee, and a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
