Major Darrell M. Dorsett, 61 Memphis, TN passed away in Memphis, TN on Monday, June 16, 2025.
Major Dorsett was a graduate of Raleigh High School, Raleigh, MS. He joined the Mississippi National Guard at the age of 17 and remained in the National Guard for four years. Later he continued his education at Clarke College, William Carey College earning a Bachelor Science Degree; at University of Southern Mississippi he was commissioned as an Officer; he also attended the University of Colorado earning a Masters of Arts in Curriculum and Instruction Technology Management; and Webster University where he earned a Masters of Arts in Instruction Technology Management.
In January, 1987, he joined the United State Army. During his military duty, he was stationed at Fort Knox( Two Tours), Fort Monroe, VA, Fort Leavenworth, Kansas and Camp Casey, Korea ( Two Tours). His military education included, Army Officer Advanced, Armor Officer Basic Command and General Staff College Non-Resident, Combat Arms, Specia. Victim Counsel and Senior Foreign Service School, Jr. Officer Maintenance Career Readiness Standards, and Command General Staff College. He was awarded a plethora of awards, decorations,medals,badges, and campaign ribbons.
Major Dorsett retired from the United States Army in september 2006. After retirement, he became a JROTC instructor at Whitehaven High School, Memphis, TN
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lonnie Q. Dorsett and Dorothy Lee Barnes-Dorsett.
Survivors include his devoted wife,Pamela K. Dorsett; daughter, Courtney Dorsett, Atlanta GA., sister, Annetta Snowden, Madison, MS; brother, Ricky Dorsett, Pelahatchie, MS; grandchildren, Christian Wills and Prince Willis; special niece, Samatha Willis (Cliff); special nephew, Blake Dorsett; fur baby, Frisky and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends.
