Mr. Archie Smith, 76, Mount Olive, MS, passed away on May 2, 2026.
He was reared in Covington County and received his early education and graduated from McLaurin Attendance Center, Magee, MS. He attended Mississippi Valley State University in Itta Bena, MS, where he graduated and prepared himself for a life of service, responsibility, and hard work. He began his career with Exxon Mobil in Baton Rouge, LA. He dedicated 38 years to the company before retiring. In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting and fishing. He loved his family deeply and cherished every opportunity to be surrounded by those closest to his heart. He was a faithful and active member of Zionell CME Church, where he served with humility and dedication.
Mr. Smith's life was marked by faith, family, service, and dedication. The memories he leaves behind will continue to live in the hearts of all who were blessed to know and love him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Newman Smith and Everleaner Harrington Smith; siblings, Wade Smith, Aaron Smith, Rosie Williams, Elvie Smith, and Evelyn Caldwell.
Survivors include his devoted wife of 31 years, Etta Smith; children, Tameka Turner, Aundrial Turner, Kim (Edward) Cook, and Cedrick (Sylvia) Coleman. Grandchildren, Jared Jones-Cook, Kimani (Camron) Thompson, Jeremiah Cook, Edmya Turner, Edwin Turner, and Jolon Coleman; great-grandchildren, ZaKiya Jones and Kimari Thompson; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
