Mrs. Aleathia McCann Brown, 83, passed away on March 11, 2026.
Shar attended Hopewell Jr. High School and graduated from Carver Central High School, Collins, MS. She was a lifelong member of Old Hopewell Missionary Baptist church and served faithfully during the times that she resided in the Hopewell Community. She served as Chairperson of the Pastor's Aide Committee and was a member of the Dining Committee. Her career path included being a licensed cosmetologist, manager of a major grocery store, home health care provider, and child care provider.
Her legacy is one of love and giving. She loved people, loved giving to others, loved cooking for her large family, and truly enjoyed it when her family gathered together, and loved dressing like a queen. She was a major influence in the lives of many of her nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents. Willie and Annie Steward McCann, husband James Brown, and son Larry Brown, and all of her siblings and their spouses. Sisters, Willie Lee (Robert) McCann Johnson, Maudie( Isom) McCann Booth, Laura Mae(Hudie) McCann Johnson, Mattie(Isaac) McCann Thomas, and niece/sister, Carlee McCann Ducksworth. Brothers, Johnny(Ruth) McCann, Allen (Romona) McCann, Calvin(Aline) McCann, Isaac(Helen) McCann, Curtis(Hilda and Betty) McCann, and Vernon (Estrelle) McCann. Special cousin, Odell( Leola) Beasley.
Survivors include, granddaughter, Layla Brown; great grandson, Legend Brown; great granddaughter, Ja-Ciyah Brown, daughter in law, Brigitte Brown; raised as her grandson, Paul Justim Chapman; and grandsons in law, Braxtonm Ellison and trey Chapman; brother in law, Lloyd Ducksworth and special cousin, Vera Mae Beasley floyd and a host of nieces, nephews and their families other relatives and friends.
